Get creative with a paint roller

There are so many ways to get creative with paint effects and techniques and sometimes, a little out-of-the-box thinking can bring about surprising results. Like wrapping wool around a paint roller to paint on walls, wallpaper, fabric, or even furniture.

Here’s a new way to apply texture to any wall: Simply wrap wool around the paint roller to create this dappled effect.

Before you start, paint the wall in your choice of  colour. The best colours to use for this effect would be colours from the same swatch.

Use the Plascon Inspired Colour System to select the main colour that you want to apply onto the wall – this can be either the basecoat or top colour – and then select a lighter or darker tint to apply.

On the wall above Pink Bubble (R1-A2-2) was chosen for the base coat and then Dahlia Delight (R1-A1-3) added over the top for a striking effect.

Once the base coat is dry, wrap the paint roller with wool. You can try this out on a piece of newspaper before applying to the wall, so that you can add or remove as much wool as needed until you have the desired effect.

But don’t stop there… you can also use this paint technique to make your own unique wallpaper, or roll designs onto fabric.
