Statement cabinets and bright accents create a cheerful vibe.
Of all the endless kitchen design ideas and color schemes out there, we bet you’ve never seen one quite as smile-inducing as this.
The Chicago homeowners, who enlisted designer Larry Lambert of Chi Renovation and Design to redo their kitchen, had two hopes for the new space: green cabinets and a retro design, Lambert told Today.com.
Before, the space was outdated and lackluster. “The kitchen’s finishes were dull, and the cabinets were falling apart,” he said.
With a little research, Lambert created a historically accurate palette featuring the color Jocular Green by Sherwin-Williams. The custom-made statement cabinets, punchy red accents, black-and-white octagonal tile flooring, subway tile backsplash, and old-school refrigerator make it feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
In addition to revamping the look of the room, Lambert also reworked the floor plan, giving the kitchen a more open layout and functional space. The side-by-side food storage created by the fridge and pullout shelves is just one example of that.
